A couple of our members (Derek and Dean) put their collective beer geek hats on and hashed out a recipe for us.

Of our crew, we had about a dozen of us brew the exact same brew. Some extract, some all grain, all of them good. In our first sit down with the brewers we had 6 different ones to sample plus the real one. No problems picking it out, as the clarity of their beer is arms and above all of ours. Felt ours was missing the dankness of the real thing, but is still a great beer.

Anyways, it was good to see the difference people’s equipment and water made on the brewing (at least 4 water districts in around Kelowna), and look forward to tasting the other 3 or 4 Fattugs that weren’t ready/available for the first taste off.

Here is the recipe we brewed (6G batch to fermenter, 5ish to bottle).

Recipe Specifications
————————–
Boil Size: 9.24 gal
Post Boil Volume: 6.24 gal
Batch Size (fermenter): 6.00 gal
Bottling Volume: 5.25 gal
Estimated OG: 1.070 SG
Estimated Color: 7.8 SRM
Estimated IBU: 126.6 IBUs
Brewhouse Efficiency: 72.00 %
Est Mash Efficiency: 72.0 %
Boil Time: 90 Minutes

Ingredients:
————
Amt Name Type # %/IBU
14 lbs 8.0 oz Pilsen Malt 2-Row (Briess) (1.0 SRM) Grain 1 90.6 %
1 lbs 8.0 oz Caramel Malt – 35L 6-Row (Briess) (35.0 Grain 2 9.4 %
1.00 oz Summit [17.00 %] – Boil 60.0 min Hop 3 55.7 IBUs
1.00 oz Centennial [10.00 %] – Boil 15.0 min Hop 4 16.3 IBUs
1.50 oz Citra [12.00 %] – Boil 10.0 min Hop 5 21.4 IBUs
1.00 oz Cascade [5.50 %] – Boil 10.0 min Hop 6 6.5 IBUs
1.00 oz Centennial [10.00 %] – Boil 5.0 min Hop 7 6.5 IBUs
1.00 oz Amarillo [9.20 %] – Steep/Whirlpool 15.
